14 ~ behind the falls...
I lifted Avryl slowly and gently carried her
in my arms. Her delicate frame so light I could carry her easily except for the
heavy armour she wore which is cumbersome to bear. I asked Chase to scout for
shelter for the passing night. The light will soon fade into the darkness and
we must haste.
I am not afraid of the dark. I could
sleep on rocky ground or on wet grass. My concern rests on Avryl who is extremely
exhausted and burnt out. I am not certain if she would be able to make it through the night for it seems she is in so much pain. At the mere touch of her injury, she would convulse as if she is in so much pain. As much as I want to hurry, it is imperative that I be extra cautious with Avryl.
We reached the mouth of a tributary draining towards the lake. To my delight, the water spirit we met earlier in the day elatedly welcomed our presence once more. And perhaps knowing our intent, persuaded us to follow suit until we reached the foot of a gentle rock-strewn falls. Our friend then urged us to climb through the slippery rocks as he disappeared at the back of the water curtain.
I looked at Chase. He did seem to mind and so I decided to follow his lead.I did hesitate, but a moment after that... Chase came out and with his barking and yapping convinced me to do as what he had done. It was difficult to manoeuvre and much more contemplate treading on slippery rocks with Avryl in my arms, but I was able to manage somehow after somehow taking a shower of some sort.
But there we were at the entrance of a cave, a spectacle in itself. A narrow passageway but enough for two, I wonder what lies ahead...
