16 ~ Amandiwin...

Was everything a dream? I tried sitting up. My head totally hurts. I must have slipped and hit a rock or something like that. Physical pain is short-lived. What has been instilled in the heart and the mind lasts longer. Whether it was a product of an imagination or a dream, the experience is so profound I could still sense the life force of everything and everyone I met in that enchanted reality. Chase, Avryl, Bakkun... I look around and to my bewilderment, the trees cast a ghostly bluish afterglow. I am surrounded by tall and towering trees emitting varied shades of bluish light. The patched grasses on the forest floor give off a certain glow too. I cleared my eyes and looked around again, but everything remained the same. It feels chilling yet astonishing. Is there some sort of truth to what I have just seen and experienced. The moment those thoughts left my consciousness, orbs of light lift off the grasses and off the leaves from the trees.  I called out for C...

not about angels...

Image
"Not About Angels" Birdy We know full well there's just time So is it wrong to dance this line? If your heart was full of love Could you give it up? 'Cause what about, what about angels? They will come, they will go, make us special Don't give me up Don't give... me up How unfair, it's just our luck Found something real that's out of touch But if you'd searched the whole wide world Would you dare to let it go? 'Cause what about, what about angels? They will come, they will go, make us special Don't give me up Don't give... me up 'Cause what about, what about angels? They will come, they will go, make us special It's not about, not about angels, angels ~Photo courtesy of https://elespejogotico.blogspot.com

15 ~ amidst the cerulean depths...

The cave does not seem that much. But as we proceeded further in search for dry earth, farther from the mouth of the cave where it is supposed to become dimmer, there was still light as the sunstone gave an incandescent glow pervading the passage in bluish ethereal light. Along the way small crystals reflect the faint glow, glistening like minuscule stars which become preponderant the deeper we went inside the cave until we arrived at a chamber encompassed in a crystal lattice, it appears like it is swathed in daylight as shades of blue is being scattered about. It is both fascinating and serene, a perfect place to hide the night away. I lowered Avryl on the ground letting her head rest on Chase's fur. Tranquil in her stupor, she now looks the exact opposite when she fought Bakkun head on. I caressed her forehead and checked her temperature. She seemed slight feverish so I took off my coat and made her lie on it. I was able to remove her armour so she could be more comfort...

14 ~ behind the falls...

Image
I lifted Avryl slowly and gently carried her in my arms. Her delicate frame so light I could carry her easily except for the heavy armour she wore which is cumbersome to bear. I asked Chase to scout for shelter for the passing night. The light will soon fade into the darkness and we must haste. I am not afraid of the dark. I could sleep on rocky ground or on wet grass.  My concern rests on Avryl who is extremely exhausted and burnt out. I am not certain if she would be able to make it through the night for it seems she is in so much pain. At the mere touch of her injury, she would convulse as if she is in so much pain. As much as I want to hurry, it is imperative that I be extra cautious with Avryl. We reached the mouth of a tributary draining towards the lake. To my delight, the water spirit we met earlier in the day elatedly welcomed our presence once more. And perhaps knowing our intent, persuaded us to follow suit until we reached the foot of a gentle rock-strewn fal...

13 ~ Avryl

Image
Avryl is the epitome of beauty. Despite her grim appearance, her beauty still radiates I could feel my heart skip a beat. Her delicate looks would make any man swoon and swear to protect with all his might.  I extended my hand urging her to rise which she obliged. Her face was still wet with the teardrops she earlier shed. I wiped her cheeks with my other hand which she then held to her chest.  Everything is bound to be all right. I reassured her as I turned her face closer to mine allowing me to glimpse of the metallic silvery eyes. I caught sight of her luscious red lips I was yearning to touch, but instead ushered her head to rest on my shoulder letting her find solace in my embrace. In that moment in time, as her heart resonated with mine she burst into tears. I could offer her nothing except my sympathy hoping she could find strength in me with her great loss. They might have been her friends, her sisters or her mother, that which I do not know. In her ...

12 ~ the wielder of the stone

Image
In bursts of lights of their own, the spent Naiads shattered themselves into pieces. The sight tugged my heart with sadness and grief as their lead somehow seemed resigned to their fate.  "Their sacrifice was not in vain," the remaining Naiad tearfully exclaimed. "Nothing is permanent in this world. Everything will come to pass and our very own selves will one day be taken away by that which has given us life. And will one day turn to spirits, the essence of Ophir." She turned her back, then faced and walked towards me as she bent one knee as if extolling me. "Wielder of the sacred stone, Avryl of the Encanti," she said while looking at the ground.  "I do not understand, Avryl. I am no keeper of the stone. I was just led here to this place without my full knowledge. There are a lot of things I do not understand. I am hoping you could shed some light." "No, It is you I must serve and protect. I am your guardian. We of t...

dream

Image
I was a little boy Alone in my little world  Who dreamed of a little home for me. I played pretend between the trees, And fed my houseguests bark and leaves, And laughed in my pretty bed of green. I had a dream That I could fly From the highest swing. I had a dream. Long walks in the dark Through woods grown behind the park, I asked God who I'm supposed to be. The stars smiled down on me, God answered in silent reverie. I said a prayer and fell asleep. I had a dream That I could fly From the highest tree. I had a dream. Now I'm old and feeling grey. I don't know what's left to say About this life I'm willing to leave. I lived it full and I lived it well, There's many tales I've lived to tell. I'm ready now, I'm ready now, I'm ready now To fly from the highest wing. I had a dream. ~ Priscilla Ahn (Photo courtesy of https://3sir.net)
