21 ~ Amihan

In the absence of notable storms or typhoons, there always exist that time in the year when travels seem to be the norm or perhaps a must for many but are sometimes hindered by a hostile sea or a turbulent sky.

It also happens a lot in life where it is supposed to be pleasant and calm, the nerves somehow speak in a different tone, tense and perturbed just like what I am currently feeling right now.

The northeast monsoon, the Amihan seems oblivious at first until it sweeps the land and seascapes in its cold forceful charges creating strong sea currents and rogue waves in its wake. The islanders of Sidlakan seem hostage by its morose temperament. If only there was another form of transport, I wouldn’t be undertaking this ordeal which has already lasted for three days. Though unbearable, I can only settle for that sole consolation of getting used to the dynamic churning and rocking of the sea vessel.

I am a great lover of the sea except when it shows and asserts its true self and you are left at its mercy. I have endured. When a man has gone through so much, only that sense of numbness ensues. And when all do come to pass like after a long-fought battle, there will be that reward; fulfilment and victory.

There is one more day to go until I set foot once more in Sidlakan and find my way towards Viridjan and find where my heart has gone to.
