07 ~ the sky meets the sentry depths
The earth momentarily shook sending the aves to flee in droves from where they were perched. We lowered our pace alongside the water monocerus who turned cautious all of a sudden. The land dwelling fauna likewise seem to be disturbed as they head towards the opposite direction from where we were heading to.
But still we pushed forward despite battling the wind which is picking up in speed. The leaves rustle as the branches dance to an ever increasing crescendo as some are knocked loose to be claimed by a strengthening zypher.
From the looming distance, gray clouds converge as the sky became overcast. We left the treeline and finally found ourselves on a sandy beach of a vast lake whose once azure waters turn to an ominous looking cobalt blue.
A thunderous roar is heard as a whirlpool cropped up from the lake's sentry depths while a swirling mass of grayish black clouds come about taking the shape of a funnel to finally merge with the waters below it. Flashes of light streak across the sky briefly illuminating the cimmerian landscape. And from which I could discern a gargantuan serpentine mass slither up from the churning waters to the sinister looking clouds.
Waves rush about as the once playful monocerous turned back to face me and Chase as if he was about to bid goodbye or perhaps a desperate call for help to disappear a moment thereafter on a surging swell when suddenly a bolt of lightning hit the ground on where we stood sending a strong shockwave while me and Chase were lifted from the ground to fall heavily on the sand once more then find a shard of lightning glass almost touching the tip of my stretched hands...
