Glorious victory...

Reflecting on the transient radiance at dusk
For at the end of the day, we are all victors
Having withstood the flights and skirmishes
Of a trying day that have left us with battle scars

A breath of light to cleanse the built up refuse
The pain and fear, the sudden adrenaline rush
It all seems distressing, disconcerting the mind
Calls for an escape to serenity’s gentle embrace

Past the conquest of the dark and its eerie shadows
A glorious victory, beckoning courage and hope
To march on steadfastly, with heads held high
Exulting at the illustrious reward, liberty and light

Reason rarely runs, but as I set my mind
On that celebrated triumph, my thoughts slip away
my reality seems like a dream, surreal to some
this I have witnessed and lived all the way through

There are things that might have been missed
For gaps and holes break the focus of my mind
My steps tick on, each second seems long
My gilded history feels getting ever far behind

Tears supplant, my missing memories unfound.
But why does a smile lit my face now
Though my journey isn't complete, yet somehow
It seems I have met my fate, at last I can go.
